Getting Paid

After CoinDuffle receives and verifies your buyback items, you'll be paid the agreed amount. This page explains how to set up your payout method, what the payment flow looks like, and when to expect your money.

Setting Up Your Payout Method

CoinDuffle processes all buyback payouts through Stripe Connect, a secure payment platform used by millions of businesses. You'll need to connect a Stripe account before you can receive payment.

How to Connect Stripe

1. Navigate to Account → Payouts (or Account → Selling → Payouts).
2. Click Set Up Payouts or Connect with Stripe.
3. You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding flow where you'll provide:
   • Your legal name and date of birth
   • Your Social Security Number (last 4 digits or full, depending on payout volume)
   • Your bank account details (routing number and account number) for receiving payouts
   • Your address
4. Complete the Stripe verification process. This is usually instant but may take up to 2 business days in some cases.
5. Once verified, your Stripe account is connected and you're ready to receive payouts.

Why Stripe?

Stripe is one of the most trusted payment platforms in the world. Using Stripe for payouts ensures:

• Security — Your bank details are stored securely by Stripe, not by CoinDuffle.
• Speed — Payouts are processed quickly through Stripe's banking network.
• Reliability — Stripe handles millions of payouts daily with high reliability.
• Transparency — You can see all payout details and history in your Stripe dashboard.

The Payment Flow

Here's the complete flow from accepting a buyback quote to receiving your money:

1. Verification

After CoinDuffle receives your shipment, our team inspects and verifies each item:

• Authentication — We verify that items are genuine.
• Condition check — We confirm items are in the expected condition.
• Quantity and weight verification — We confirm the correct items and quantities were received.

2. Receipt Confirmation

Once verification is complete:

• You receive an email confirming that your items have been received and verified.
• The buyback order status updates to "Verified" in your account.
• If there are any discrepancies, we'll contact you before proceeding (see Accepting & Shipping for details).

3. Payment Issued

After verification is confirmed:

• CoinDuffle initiates the payout through Stripe Connect.
• The payout is sent to the bank account you connected during Stripe onboarding.
• You receive an email notification that payment has been issued.

4. Funds Received

• Stripe processes the payout to your bank.
• Funds typically arrive in your bank account within 1–3 business days after the payout is initiated.
• The exact timing depends on your bank's processing speed.

Viewing Your Payout History

You can track all your buyback payouts in two places:

On CoinDuffle

Go to Account → Payouts to see:

• A list of all payouts with dates, amounts, and statuses
• Links to the associated buyback orders
• Payout method details

On Stripe

If you need more detailed information, you can access your Stripe Express dashboard:

1. Go to Account → Payouts.
2. Click View Stripe Dashboard (or a similar link).
3. In the Stripe dashboard, you can see detailed payout history, bank transfer confirmations, and more.

Tax Considerations

Selling precious metals may have tax implications. Please be aware:

• 1099 reporting — Depending on the volume and type of items you sell, CoinDuffle may be required to issue a 1099-K or 1099-B form for tax reporting purposes.
• Capital gains — Profits from selling precious metals may be subject to capital gains tax. The tax treatment depends on how long you held the items, the amount of gain, and your individual tax situation.
• Keep records — Maintain records of your original purchase price (cost basis) and sale price. Your CoinDuffle order history can help with this.
• Consult a tax professional — Tax laws regarding precious metals are complex and vary by state. We recommend consulting a tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

Troubleshooting

Payout Not Received

If you haven't received your payout within the expected timeframe:

1. Check your CoinDuffle payout status — Go to Account → Payouts and verify the payout shows as "Sent" or "Completed."
2. Check your bank account — Look for a deposit from Stripe. It may appear as "STRIPE" or "COINDUFFLE" in your bank statement.
3. Allow extra time — Bank processing times can vary, especially around weekends and holidays. Allow an extra 1–2 business days before raising a concern.
4. Verify your bank details — In your Stripe dashboard, confirm your bank account number and routing number are correct.
5. Contact support — If the payout still hasn't arrived, contact CoinDuffle support with your payout reference number.

Stripe Verification Issues

If you're having trouble completing Stripe's verification:

• Double-check your information — Ensure your name, date of birth, and SSN exactly match your official records.
• Try a different browser — Some browser extensions can interfere with Stripe's onboarding flow.
• Contact support — CoinDuffle support can help troubleshoot Stripe connection issues.
