Product Q&A

Buyers often have questions before making a purchase, especially for high-value coins and bullion. CoinDuffle's Product Q&A feature lets buyers ask questions directly on product pages, and your public answers help all potential buyers — not just the one who asked.

How Product Q&A Works

  1. A buyer visits one of your product pages and has a question
  2. They click Ask a Question and submit their question
  3. You receive a notification (if enabled) and the question appears in your dashboard
  4. You write an answer and submit it
  5. Both the question and your answer are displayed publicly on the product page

Why Q&A Matters

  • Removes buying barriers — Unanswered questions are lost sales. A quick, helpful answer can turn a hesitant browser into a buyer.
  • Builds trust — Public Q&A shows prospective buyers that you're responsive and knowledgeable
  • Reduces repetitive messages — Answers are visible to all buyers, so common questions only need to be answered once
  • Improves SEO — Q&A content adds relevant keywords to your product pages

Managing Questions

Viewing Questions

Navigate to Seller Dashboard → Q&A to see all questions across your products. You can filter by:

  • Unanswered — Questions waiting for your response (prioritize these)
  • Answered — Questions you've already responded to
  • Product — See all questions for a specific product
  • Date — Sort by newest or oldest

Answering Questions

When answering a buyer's question:

  1. Click on the question to open it
  2. Write your answer in the response field
  3. Click Submit Answer

Your answer is published immediately and the buyer is notified by email.

Answer Best Practices

Be prompt — Aim to answer questions within 24 hours. Faster responses lead to higher conversion rates. If a buyer is asking about a product, they're considering buying it right now.

Be thorough — Provide a complete answer, not just a yes or no. Include relevant details.

Bad answer:

"Yes."

Good answer:

"Yes, this coin comes in the original PCGS holder as shown in the photos. The certification number is 12345678, which you can verify on the PCGS website. The holder is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips."

Be honest — If you don't know the answer, say so. If the question reveals a gap in your listing, update the product description too.

Be professional — Even if a question seems basic or is asked in a casual way, respond professionally. Your answers are public and represent your brand.

Address the underlying concern — Often the real question isn't what's literally asked. "Is this coin authentic?" really means "Can I trust you?" Answer accordingly with specifics about your guarantees, grading, and return policy.

Common Question Types and How to Answer Them

Condition and Grading Questions

Q: "What grade would you estimate for this raw coin?"

A: "Based on my examination, I'd estimate this coin at VF-35 to EF-40 range. It has strong detail on the hair and feathers with moderate wear on the high points. The photos show the coin accurately. We offer a 14-day return policy if the coin doesn't meet your expectations."

Authenticity Questions

Q: "Is this bar genuine?"

A: "Absolutely. This is a genuine Engelhard 10 oz silver bar with serial number E12345. We guarantee the authenticity of every item we sell and offer a lifetime authenticity guarantee. If you're ever uncertain about any purchase from us, we'll accept a return for a full refund."

Shipping Questions

Q: "How will this be shipped?"

A: "This coin will ship via USPS Priority Mail in a padded mailer with bubble wrap protection. The coin is in a hard plastic capsule for additional protection. All orders over $100 ship with USPS insurance. We typically ship within one business day of payment."

Pricing Questions

Q: "Will the price change? I see it's based on the spot price."

A: "Yes, the price updates throughout the day based on the current silver spot price. The premium ($4.50 over spot) stays the same. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay — it's locked in when you complete your purchase."

Bundling or Availability Questions

Q: "Do you have more of these? I'd like to buy 10."

A: "Great question! I currently have 15 in stock from the same mint tube, all in BU condition. The listing quantity shows our available stock, so feel free to add as many as you'd like to your cart (up to 15). If you need a larger quantity, send me a message and I may be able to source more."

Improving Your Q&A Response Rate

Set Up Notifications

Make sure Q&A notifications are enabled in your Store Settings. Real-time notifications let you answer questions quickly.

Check Daily

Even with notifications, make a habit of checking your Q&A inbox daily. Some questions may slip through if notifications are delayed or filtered.

Use Q&A to Improve Listings

If you notice the same question being asked across multiple products, it's a signal that your product descriptions need more detail:

  • Shipping questions → Add shipping details to your description
  • Condition questions → Add more detailed condition descriptions and photos
  • Authenticity questions → Add certification details and your guarantee policy
  • Pricing questions → Clarify your pricing model in the description

Response Time Matters

Buyers who ask questions are often comparing products from multiple dealers. The dealer who answers first frequently gets the sale. Aim for:

  • Under 1 hour — Excellent (during business hours)
  • Under 4 hours — Good
  • Under 24 hours — Acceptable
  • Over 24 hours — You're likely losing sales

Managing Inappropriate Questions

If a buyer asks a question that is:

  • Spam or promotional — Report it for removal
  • Offensive or inappropriate — Report it for removal
  • About a different product — Answer politely and redirect them
  • A private matter (e.g., negotiation, personal information) — Answer publicly with general information and suggest they message you privately for details

Can I delete a question?

You cannot delete buyer questions, but you can report inappropriate questions for review by CoinDuffle's moderation team.

Can I edit my answer after posting?

Yes, you can edit your answer at any time. The edited answer replaces the original.

Do buyers get notified when I answer?

Yes, the buyer who asked the question receives an email notification when you respond.

Can I ask questions on my own products?

Yes. Some dealers pre-populate their Q&A with common questions and answers. This is acceptable and can be a good way to address frequent concerns proactively.
