Duplicating Products

Clone existing products on CoinDuffle to quickly create variations or similar listings. Save time by duplicating and modifying instead of starting from scratch.

Duplicating Products

When you sell multiple similar products — different dates of the same coin series, multiple sizes of the same bar, or variations of the same item — creating each listing from scratch is unnecessarily time-consuming. CoinDuffle's product duplication feature lets you clone an existing listing and modify only what's different.

When to Duplicate

Product duplication is ideal for:

  • Same coin, different dates — You sell 2022, 2023, and 2024 American Silver Eagles. Create one detailed listing, then duplicate it for each year.
  • Same product, different sizes — You carry 1 oz, 5 oz, and 10 oz silver bars from the same manufacturer. Duplicate and adjust the weight and price.
  • Same product, different grades — You have the same coin in VF, EF, and AU condition. Duplicate and update the grade, description, and price.
  • Restocking an item — You previously sold a product and want to relist it. Duplicate the old listing rather than recreating it.
  • Creating templates — Build a well-crafted listing for a product type, then use it as a template for similar items.

How to Duplicate a Product

  1. Navigate to Seller Dashboard → Products
  2. Find the product you want to duplicate
  3. Click the Actions menu (three dots or dropdown arrow) next to the product
  4. Select Duplicate
  5. A new product is created as a draft with all the same information, titled "Copy of [Original Title]"
  6. Click Edit to open the duplicated product
  7. Update the fields that are different (title, price, images, description, etc.)
  8. Click Publish when ready (or Save as Draft to finish later)

What to Change After Duplicating

At minimum, update these fields on the duplicated product:

Title

Remove "Copy of" and update the title to reflect the new product. For example:

  • Original: "2024 American Silver Eagle 1 oz BU"
  • Duplicate: "2023 American Silver Eagle 1 oz BU"

SKU

Assign a unique SKU to the new product. Using the same SKU as another product will cause inventory tracking issues.

Price or Premium

If the new product has a different value (different date, grade, size), update the price or premium accordingly.

Images

If the duplicate represents a different physical item:

  • Remove the original images
  • Upload new photos of the actual item
  • For fungible products (identical bullion pieces), the same images can be reused

Description

Update any details that differ:

  • Year or date
  • Grade or condition
  • Specific certification numbers
  • Any unique characteristics

Quantity

Set the correct inventory count for the new product.

Bulk Duplication

If you need to create many similar listings quickly:

  1. Create one perfect listing — Invest time in a thorough description, great photos, and accurate details
  2. Duplicate it multiple times — Create as many copies as you need
  3. Use the products table — Edit each duplicate in sequence, updating only the fields that change
  4. Publish in batch — Review all duplicates and publish them together

For very large batches (20+ similar products), consider using CSV import instead, which can be faster for bulk creation.

Duplication Tips

  • Start with your best listing — If you're going to duplicate a product, make sure the original is well-crafted with complete descriptions and great images
  • Keep descriptions accurate — After duplicating, carefully read through the description to make sure all details are correct for the new product. It's easy to miss a year or grade reference.
  • Update images for unique items — For one-of-a-kind items like graded coins, always replace the images. Using the wrong photo is a sure way to lose a buyer's trust.
  • Check metal weight — If you're duplicating between different sizes (e.g., 1 oz bar to 10 oz bar), make sure to update the weight. An incorrect weight affects metal-based pricing.
  • Don't forget the SKU — Every product needs a unique SKU. A consistent naming convention makes this easy (e.g., AG-ASE-2024-001, AG-ASE-2023-001).

Use Case: Building a Series

Here's a practical workflow for listing a complete series:

Scenario: You want to list American Silver Eagles from 2020 through 2024.

  1. Create a thorough listing for the 2024 American Silver Eagle with great photos and a detailed description
  2. Duplicate it 4 times
  3. For each duplicate:
    • Update the year in the title
    • Update the year in the description
    • Adjust the price or premium (older dates may command different premiums)
    • Upload year-specific photos if available
    • Assign unique SKUs
  4. Review all 5 listings
  5. Publish them all

Total time: 15–20 minutes instead of 45–60 minutes creating each from scratch.
