National Bank of Commerce New York, $5 1902 Date Back Uncut PMG VF 30
From $2,800.00
National Bank of Commerce New York $5 1902 Date Back Uncut Pair PMG VF 30 is a remarkable survivor from the National Currency era, encapsulated and graded Very Fine 30 by PMG with a noted Edge Damage qualifier. This uncut pair -- positions I and J -- presents two consecutive $5 National Currency notes exactly as they left the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, never separated into individual notes. Issued by the National Bank of Commerce in New York (Charter #733), the notes carry serial number M267356A and plate position E, dated January 14, 1905 per the bank officer signatures of Cashier Ward and President Alexander. The face value of Five Dollars is boldly stated, secured by United States Bonds, with the facsimile Treasury signatures of Lyons and Roberts. The green reverse, bearing the distinctive 1902 and 1908 date panel, showcases the classic "Landing of the Pilgrims" vignette common to the Date Back type. Uncut pairs from large New York City national banks are seldom encountered, making this PMG-slabbed example a centerpiece addition to any National Currency collection.
