    Description

The 1922 Peace Silver Dollar graded NGC MS-63 is a Choice Uncirculated example of one of America's most beloved 20th-century coin series. The Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 to commemorate the end of World War I, and 1922 marked the first full production year of the series, with tens of millions struck โ€” making it the signature date that anchors most Peace Dollar collections. The obverse presents Anthony de Francisci's iconic portrait of Liberty wearing a radiate crown, inscribed with LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse displays a bald eagle at rest on a rocky perch, clutching an olive branch beneath rays of sunlight, with the inscription PEACE at the base โ€” a deliberate departure from the militaristic imagery of earlier dollar designs. Struck in 0. 900 fine silver at 26. 73 grams, this example has been encapsulated and graded MS-63 by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), certifying it as a Choice Uncirculated coin with above-average mint luster and well-defined design detail. The coin is secured in NGC's rigid, tamper-evident holder, bearing certification number 4264245-022, making it registry-traceable and ready for display or collection.

    Frequently asked questions

MS-63, or Choice Uncirculated, indicates the coin was never spent in commerce and retains its original mint luster. At this grade, minor contact marks may be present on the fields or high points, but the overall strike and surface quality are well above average for a circulated-era silver dollar.
The 1922 Peace Dollar is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a total weight of 26.73 grams. That translates to approximately 0.7735 troy ounces of pure silver โ€” consistent with the standard U.S. silver dollar specification used from the 19th century through 1935.
1922 was the first full-production year of the Peace Dollar series, following the limited 1921 debut issue. With the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints all striking coins that year, 1922 established the series standard and remains the most collected and widely recognized Peace Dollar date.
The coin is sealed inside a rigid NGC sonically sealed slab โ€” a hard plastic holder designed to protect the coin from handling, environmental exposure, and tampering. The NGC hologram label on the reverse of the holder and the unique certification number allow the grade to be verified in NGC's online registry.
