    Description

The 1912-P $2. 50 Gold Quarter Eagle PCGS XF45 is a sharply original pre-1933 U. S. gold coin graded Extremely Fine 45 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 0. 900 fine gold with a gold weight of 0. 1209 troy oz, this Quarter Eagle belongs to the beloved Indian Head series designed by sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt and introduced in 1908. The obverse presents a left-facing Native American chief in a feathered war bonnet, rendered in Pratt's distinctive incuse relief -- a bold artistic departure from the raised-relief coinage of earlier eras. Stars ring the portrait beneath the LIBERTY legend. The reverse features a perched eagle surrounded by the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA inscription and the TWO AND A HALF DOLLARS denomination. At XF45, the coin retains pleasing definition across its high points with natural wear consistent with its century-plus of history. It arrives sealed in its PCGS sonically sealed holder, complete with the holographic security label on the reverse of the slab, making it display-ready for any pre-1933 gold collection.

    Frequently asked questions

This coin has been graded XF45 (Extremely Fine 45) by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), one of the most respected third-party grading services in numismatics. It is sealed in a PCGS sonically sealed holder with a holographic security label on the reverse.
The Indian Head Quarter Eagle was designed by sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt and first issued in 1908. Pratt's design is notable for its incuse (sunken) relief style, a radical departure from traditional raised-relief U.S. coinage, inspired by guidance from President Theodore Roosevelt.
The 1912-P Quarter Eagle contains 0.1209 troy oz of actual gold and is struck in 0.900 fine gold alloy, the standard composition for U.S. gold coinage of this era. This gives it both numismatic collectible value and meaningful precious metal content.
Yes. The Indian Head Quarter Eagle series ran from 1908 to 1929, with issues from the Philadelphia and Denver mints. Collectors assemble complete date-and-mint sets, making each individual date like the 1912-P a meaningful addition to a pre-1933 U.S. gold type or series collection.
