Payout Schedule

Understand when and how CoinDuffle payouts are processed. Learn about payout frequency, bank transfer timing, holding periods, and what affects your payout schedule.

Payout Schedule

Knowing when to expect your money is important for managing your business cash flow. This guide explains CoinDuffle's payout schedule, how timing works, and what factors can affect when funds reach your bank account.

Standard Payout Schedule

Payout Frequency

CoinDuffle payouts are processed on a rolling daily schedule through Stripe:

  • Payouts are initiated daily for all available funds
  • Each payout includes all earnings that have cleared the holding period since the last payout

Bank Transfer Timing

After a payout is initiated, the time for funds to reach your bank account depends on your bank and location:

Transfer TypeTypical Timing
Standard (ACH)1–2 business days
Instant (if available)Minutes

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding US bank holidays.

End-to-End Timeline

Here's a typical timeline from sale to bank deposit:

EventDay
Buyer places orderDay 0
You ship the orderDay 1
Holding period endsDay 2–7 (varies)
Payout initiated by StripeNext daily payout cycle
Funds arrive in your bank1–2 business days after initiation

Total typical time: 3–9 business days from the sale to money in your bank account.

Holding Periods

Before funds become available for payout, they go through a holding period. The length depends on your account status and history.

New Sellers

New CoinDuffle sellers typically have a 7-day holding period on their first payouts. This is a standard Stripe requirement for new accounts and provides protection during the initial selling period.

After you've established a positive track record (typically after your first few weeks of successful sales and no disputes), the holding period decreases.

Established Sellers

Sellers with an established history on CoinDuffle typically have a 2-day rolling hold. This means funds from a sale are available for payout 2 business days after the charge is processed.

How Holding Periods Work

  1. Buyer pays on Monday → Payment is processed
  2. 2-day hold → Funds become available Wednesday
  3. Daily payout runs Wednesday evening → Payout initiated
  4. Bank transfer → Funds arrive Thursday or Friday

Factors That Affect Payout Timing

Account Age

  • New accounts (first 30 days): Longer holding periods (5–7 days)
  • Established accounts (30+ days, good standing): Shorter holding periods (2 days)
  • High-volume accounts: May qualify for even faster payouts

Dispute History

Active disputes can delay payouts:

  • Disputed amounts are held until the dispute is resolved
  • Multiple disputes may extend holding periods on your entire account
  • Resolving disputes quickly minimizes the impact

Verification Status

Incomplete Stripe verification can delay or pause payouts:

  • Ensure all requested documents are provided
  • Complete any outstanding verification steps in your Stripe dashboard
  • Check your email for requests from Stripe

Weekends and Holidays

  • Payouts are not processed on weekends or US bank holidays
  • An order placed on Friday may not result in a bank deposit until the following Wednesday or Thursday
  • Bank holidays can add an extra day to transfer timing

Monitoring Your Payout Schedule

In CoinDuffle

Navigate to Seller Dashboard → Payouts to see:

  • Upcoming payouts — Estimated amounts and dates
  • Recent payouts — Completed transfers with amounts and dates
  • Pending balance — Funds in holding, with estimated availability dates

In Stripe

Your Stripe dashboard shows:

  • Balance → Available — Funds ready for payout
  • Balance → Pending — Funds in holding with estimated available dates
  • Payouts — Complete payout history with dates and bank accounts

Payout Notifications

CoinDuffle sends email notifications when:

  • A payout is initiated
  • A payout has been deposited to your bank
  • A payout has failed (with instructions to fix the issue)

Payout Failures

Common Causes

  • Incorrect bank details — Wrong routing or account number
  • Closed bank account — The connected account has been closed
  • Bank rejection — The bank rejected the deposit (naming mismatch, restrictions)

What Happens When a Payout Fails

  1. Stripe notifies you via email
  2. The funds return to your Stripe balance
  3. You update your bank details in Stripe
  4. The funds are included in your next payout

Preventing Failures

  • Verify your bank details when setting up Stripe Connect
  • If you change banks, update your Stripe bank account information before the old account is closed
  • Use the bank linking feature (Plaid) for more reliable account setup

Optimizing Your Cash Flow

Ship Quickly

The sooner you ship and the order enters the fulfillment pipeline, the sooner the holding period clock starts (or concludes, depending on the hold type). Fast shipping leads to faster payouts.

Maintain Good Standing

Avoid disputes and cancellations to keep your holding period at the minimum. A clean track record leads to faster fund availability.

Plan for Timing

  • Know that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday sales won't generate bank deposits until mid-week
  • Holiday periods can add extra delays
  • Factor a 3–5 day buffer into your cash flow planning

Monitor Regularly

Check your payout dashboard at least weekly to ensure:

  • Payouts are processing on schedule
  • No unexpected holds have been placed
  • Bank deposits match expected amounts
