- The buyer's shipping address is pre-filled
Enter Package Details
Package dimensions:
- Length, width, and height in inches
- If you set default dimensions in Store Settings, these are pre-filled
Package weight:
- Enter the total weight of the package (product + packaging) in ounces or pounds
- Be accurate — underweight packages may incur additional postage charges
Package type:
- Select from predefined package types (e.g., USPS Flat Rate boxes, carrier-specific packaging, or your own packaging)
- Flat Rate boxes have a fixed price regardless of weight (great for heavy items like silver bars)

Add Insurance (Optional)
Some services (like USPS Priority Mail) include built-in insurance (e.g., $100 by default). For orders exceeding $100 in value, we strongly recommend adding additional insurance:
- $100–$500: Insurance is inexpensive and highly recommended
- $500–$5,000: Insurance is essential. A lost or damaged shipment without insurance is a total loss.
- $5,000+: Consider registered mail (available at the post office) for maximum security and insurance
Complete Purchase
- Review the shipping label details
- Click Purchase Label
- The label cost is deducted from your account balance or charged to your payment method
- The tracking number is automatically added to the order
- The buyer receives a shipping notification
Printing Your Label
After purchase, your shipping label is available for download:
Print Options
- PDF download — Download the label as a PDF to print on standard paper or a label printer
- Thermal printer — Labels are formatted for 4×6 thermal printers (ZPL format available)
- Standard printer — Print on regular 8.5×11 paper and cut or fold to fit
Label Placement
- Attach the label securely to the largest flat surface of the package
- Cover the label with clear packing tape for weather protection
- Make sure the barcode is not wrinkled or obscured
- Remove or cover any old labels or barcodes on reused packaging
Rates and Pricing
USPS Flat Rate Pricing
USPS Flat Rate options charge the same price regardless of weight (other carriers use weight- and distance-based pricing):
| Service | Package | Approximate Rate* |
|---|---|---|
| Priority Flat Rate Envelope | Padded envelope | ~$9–$10 |
| Priority Small Flat Rate Box | 8.625" × 5.375" × 1.625" | ~$10–$11 |
| Priority Medium Flat Rate Box | 11.25" × 8.75" × 5.5" | ~$16–$17 |
| Priority Large Flat Rate Box | 12.25" × 12.25" × 6" | ~$22–$23 |
*Rates shown are approximate commercial-base pricing and may vary. Actual rates are displayed at time of purchase.
Weight-Based Pricing
Non-flat-rate Priority Mail and other services are priced by weight and distance:
- Rates depend on package weight, dimensions, and destination zone
- CoinDuffle shows exact rates at the time of label purchase
Savings vs. Retail
CoinDuffle's commercial-base pricing through EasyPost typically saves 10–20% compared to retail carrier rates.
Packaging for Precious Metals
Shipping coins and bullion requires extra care due to value and weight.
Lightweight Shipments (Single Coins, Small Items)
- Place the coin in a protective flip, capsule, or slab holder
- Wrap in bubble wrap
- Place in a small bubble mailer or rigid cardboard mailer
- For coins in slabs, use a slab-sized shipping box with foam padding
Medium Shipments (Multiple Coins, Small Bars)
- Individually protect each item
- Bundle items together with rubber bands or tape (over protective material)
- Place in a small shipping box (e.g., USPS Priority Mail box or similar)
- Fill empty space with packing material to prevent shifting
- Tape all box seams securely
Heavy Shipments (Silver Bars, Bulk Orders)
- Wrap bars in bubble wrap
- Use a sturdy, weight-rated box
- Secure items so they cannot shift (heavy silver bars can puncture boxes if they move)
- Consider double-boxing: inner box with product, outer box with padding
- Reinforce corners and seams with extra tape
- For very heavy packages (over 10 lbs), consider splitting into multiple shipments
Security Tips
- Don't label packages as "COINS" or "GOLD" — Use discreet packaging
- Always require signature confirmation for orders over $250
- Use registered mail for extremely valuable shipments ($5,000+)
- Take photos of packed items and the sealed package as documentation
Scheduling a Carrier Pickup
Instead of taking packages to a drop-off location, many carriers offer scheduled pickups:
- USPS — Schedule a free pickup at usps.com/pickup. Your mail carrier picks up packages during regular delivery.
- UPS — Schedule pickups through ups.com or the UPS app.
- FedEx — Schedule pickups through fedex.com or the FedEx app.
This is especially convenient for multiple daily shipments.
Tracking Labels
All labels purchased through CoinDuffle include tracking from the selected carrier. The tracking number:
- Is automatically added to the CoinDuffle order
- Is sent to the buyer via email
- Can be used to track the package on the carrier's website or app
- Updates automatically in your seller dashboard as the package moves
Common Tracking Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pre-Shipment / Label Created | Label created, not yet scanned by the carrier |
| In Transit | Package is moving through the carrier's network |
| Out for Delivery | On the delivery vehicle |
| Delivered | Confirmed delivery |
| Alert / Exception | Possible delivery issue (see details) |
Voiding Labels
If you purchased a label but didn't use it (e.g., the order was cancelled):
- Open the order in your dashboard
- Click Void Label
- The label is cancelled and the charge is refunded
Labels can typically be voided within 30 days of purchase if they haven't been scanned by the carrier.
